3RD LAW OPENSÂ
THE ARVADA CENTERS’ SUMMER SERIES
One Night Only on June 1
Snow is falling from the ceiling. Dancers, dressed in white, move delicately, dancing in and out of the lights. The music is gentle, simple. The space feels eerie. I feel the emotions rolling back and forth from the stage to Katie Elliott, who is sitting four rows behind me. I wonder what she is thinking as she watches her dancers perform this tribute to her husband.
Jimmy passed away over a year ago. He was Katie’s best friend and her business partner. He was the backbone of her life, so she made the most beautiful piece for him, something that could hold space for his memory.
“The Snow” puts a knot in your throat and lets time slows downs. It takes you to the gentle layers of love between two people.
“The snow” is a masterpiece. It is at the heart of this show, and from it spreads some of the best work created by Third Law for the past 20 years.
These pieces range from comedic stories to thought provoking scenes, in a whirlwind of lightning fast and complex choreography.
This is a one time show and I encourage you to see it, tomorrow evening at the beautiful Arvada Center.
But for now, I just wanted to be in “the Snow” for a few moments.
